Animals...

Animals most often refer to the instincts, both domesticated and wild, as well as our particular feelings about particular kinds of animals. The habitat in which the animal is most comfortable, namely, water, earth, or air, points toward the type of instincts symbolized: emotional, physical, or intellectual, respectively.

For example, domestic dogs might point toward loyalties and servants, as well as responsibilities that are instinctual rather than learned or given by the world. Domestic dogs are tamed, contained, and forgiving. They are companions most often associated with the home. At the same time,
Merriam Webster, besides offering a scientific defintion of what dog means, offered the following insight: a "worthless of contemptible companion," thus emphasizing the importance of  bearing your own attitudes to the images that appear in dreams. As frustrating and naughty as my four-footed canine companions are, I would never consider them contemptible. Wild dogs point toward untamed instinctual loyalities; they are more like scavengers: suspicious, skittish, and ferocious. They run in packs and survive by thier wits.

By virtue of being an animal, a rabbit evokes instinct, as opposed to reason or emotion, and can be either wild or domesticated. Imagine, for a moment, being a rabbit. Rabbits hop rather than run, sniffing the air as they go along, every few hops. Smell and intuition have often been associated--one gets a sniff of something that is not quite right, even if one cannot put one's finger on it. One can also be as scared as a rabbit: rabbits are cautious creatures; they are small and vulnerable to predators, often dying of a heart failure rather than the injuries inflicted by a predator. So rabbits step out rather than allow themselves to be taken out. Rabbits make their homes underground, in burrows; there is safety in numbers in the darkness unless one’s burrow is on Watership Down and the developers come along. More often than not, rabbits find a way out of a corner because they can dig their way out it.

It is also a good idea to consider how we use the animals idiomatically. For example, people sometimes say someone has gone to the dogs to describe a person's deterioration, or describe someone who lacks ethics and integrity as a real dog. Likwise, people are can be described as
as scared as a rabbit, suggesting a person who lives in fear.
Natural Disasters...

As terrifying as the images of natural disaters are in a dream, there is nothing like a tsunami to clear out the debris in one's psyche so that one can start a new, and nothing as effective as an earthquake to topple structures in the psyche that no longer serve one. These psychic images in dreams alert one to the opportunity to let the past go and build a new and more accommodating world. If you dream of a tsunami, expect at the very least that your are being challenged to revision yourself on an emotional level.  If you dream of an earthquake, expect the same on an environmental or physical level.

Vehicles...

Vehicles in a dream offer insight into the way in which we move through life; vehicles are the chariots that carry us through life. A bicycle, for example, is a more humble form of transport than a car, while a horse is more humble than both, indicating motion in the soul rather than ego. When dreaming of a vehicle, it is important to note who is directing the motion: by whom is one being driven. Are you in control of the car or is someone else driving you in a particular direction?  Busses, trains, and airplanes suggest one is moving with others as part of a collective taking the same direction, whereas cars and bicycles indicate an individual direction that is open to choice.  Boats suggest one is negotiating the emotional realms.  For example, a wooden boat is a humble and vulnerable vehicle on a stormy sea, but it is has a better chance of negotiating the waves than, for example, an ocean liner, by virtue of its ability to bob like a cork and maneuver.

Colours/Colours...

Colors in dream are always interesting because, interestingly enough, many people claim not to dream in color. There are various ways of looking at colors. Remember with respect to any interpretation to consult your own meanings first, particularly with respect to color. Are you comfortable with the color? For example, while orange might be considered the color of joy and celebration, I resist wearing orange, and even when some say I look good in red, it not a color I wear alone; too much red is too bold and overwhelming for an introvert.
A second way of looking at color is to consider the chakra system, or energy vortexes located on the body. The color in the dream may be calling attention to a particular part of the body, from the base of the spine (red) with its coiled Kundalini and Life force, through the hues of the rainbow, to the crown (violet), and the more spiritual qualities associated with the Higher Self.
Then there are the more conventional meanings attached to color; for example, red is the life blood: passionate, aggressive and energetic. Blue depends on the hue; whereas light blue is calming and peaceful , dark blue is conventional, the color of uniforms and authority. Green holds the tension, but is also the color of Love (as opposed to love and lust), and in contradiction, its perversion, jealousy.
Bear mind too that the meanings of color are culturally specific: in the Western world we marry in white and mourn in black, whereas the opposite is true of Oriental cultures. Moreover, while black may imply non-being, non-being is also a fertile void that awaits the manifestation of form. Likewise, white can imply a blank slate and page yet to be written upon or the purity of that which is uncontaminated by worldly concerns.
